Carlong has pioneered the development of a comprehensive range of activity-oriented textbooks for the new, completely integrated curriculum for the first three years of primary school. The series is organized around the curriculum's focus questions and emphasizes concept formation, content coverage, skills development and vocabulary building.

To ensure comprehensive coverage of the curriculum, there are five books for each year, making a total of fifteen books for the three years.

Vilma McClenan
is the Coordinator for the delivery of distance education programmes atthe UWI Distance Education Centre (UWIDEC). She is a distinguishedTeacher and Science Educator, who in 2000 was awarded the SilverMusgrave  Medal from the Institute of Jamaica, for Science andTechnology Education. She is also the main author of the First Steps in Science (FSIS)series which was the first comprehensive primary science series basedon the Jamaican curriculum which was adopted by the MOE.

Bernetta Porter
is a Senior Education Officer in the MOE and the Training Officer for the Primary Education Support Project (PESP).

U. Eugenie Harrison
is an experienced educator who also taught at the teriary level for over 10 years. She is the Principal of Harrison's Preparatory School, Jamaica.

Sharon Neil
has served the MOE in several roles, as School Support Manager of the Primary Education Implementation Project (PEIP), Supervisory Education Officer and as, Senior Education Officer for the NAP. She is Principal Lecturer at a teachers' college in Jamaica.

Marva Griffith-Green
is Senior Administrator in the Faculty of Social Sciences at UWI, Mona. She is a workshop facilitator with the MOE, and has served that Ministry in many different roles over several years. She is one of the authors of Carlong's FSIS series.

I bought this book for my 6 year old in August this year.The book is now torn apart because of very poor bounding.I have tried gluing it but to no avail.How do I get redress on this issue. From heather_131963@yahoo.com
