This third book in the revised series, Year 6: Our World Environment, is a revision of Carlong Primary Social Studies Book 6: Our World Environment which the Ministry of Education originally had recommended for use in Jamaican primary schools over 10 years ago. The updated text offers a comprehensive treatment of the social studies topics, skills and attitutes needed for Grade 6.
The focus is on Planet Earth: its place in the solar system; its important characteristics; its natural resources and how they are used; its different climatic zones and the way people live in some countries within the different cliamtic zones; and, finally, the concept of Earth as a global village. In addition to being an ideal text for Grade 6, it is an important resource for all school libraries, especially as people all over the world have become more environmentally aware and more interconnected. We have made a special effort to obtain fresh information and new photographs to ensure currency. |
