Dear Partners in Education, The way upward for education has been defined and its success demand partnership and collaboration. Each child can learn. . . every child must is the philosophy that underpins the vision for transforming education in Jamaica. A transformation that will provide access to . . .an education which facilitates life-long learning and acquisition of social and life skills for all . . . As Partners in the education process, Carlong Publishers Caribbean Limited, in association with our publishing partners Pearson Education - Pearson Longman, ladybird and Penguin - continue to participate fully in the mission to transform education to become the key driver of growth and sustainable development of Jamaica and all other Caribbean nations. Our partnership relationship with government and all stake holders in education, has enabled us to extend our resources beyond our core business of publishing and distributing curriculum relevant, pedagogically current, culturally sensitive, creatively produced textbooks and general reading material, to also include our strong support of literacy development programmes and the promotion of the reading habit. As a team, in collaboration with all our education and book industry partners, Carlong remain committed, in spite of the challenges, to the mission of enabling our people to move forward - literate, informed, creative and productive.. It is this commitment that has emboldened us to develop and distribute, an impressive range of publications - new and revised titles - that will enable teachers, students and parents to have the best resources for teaching and learning. This range of publications include our Carlong Primary Integrated Studies Series (CPIS), developed in response to Jamaica's Ministry of Education Youth and Culture (MOEY&C) new integrated curriculum for grades 1-3 in Jamaican primary schools. The CPIS, Year 1 material - (5 books) - has received widespread acclaim as an effective, innovative and groundbreaking textbook series, and has been adopted by the MOEY&C and distributed to all primary Schools in Jamaica. We continue to expand our investment in indigenous literacy material, particularly in the category of children's literature, with three new additions (since our last catalogue) to the delightful Sand Pebbles Pleasure Series, two of which (Jo-Jo's Treasure Hunt and Every Little Thing Will be Alright) topped the list of Award - winning books in the 2004 Book Industry Association of Jamaica (BIAJ) Book Awards. In this catalogue, we invite you to log-on to www.carlongpublishers.com and open up to an exciting world of classroom- ready material from the Carlong catalogue, and links to the Pearson Longman, Ladybird and Penguin websites with their dynamic offerings.
